‘Daddy, You Thought You Were Saving My Life Pulling Me From Foster Care But In Actuality, You Were Saving My Life So I Could Save Yours Later.’

64-year-old pastor Billy Houze was on the slow road to death in 2016. His doctors told him that his kidneys were failing on him, and if he didn’t get a transplant within a few years, he wasn’t gonna make it much farther. Several of his family members were tested and none of them matched. His doctors were extremely worried, telling him it could take up to seven years to find the perfect match for him. Billy didn’t have that long.

The only other family member was his daughter, DeLauren, and she had been adopted by Billy and his wife when she was young. So the chances of her being a match to her adopted father were pretty slim. But she loved her dad. She loved him so much that she got tested anyway… just in case. Just in case she held that slim glimmer of hope for her dad to stay alive well into his golden years.

So the test results came back, and defying all odds, DeLauren wasn’t just a match…. she was a PERFECT match! They are set to have the transplant soon.

Billy and DeLauren have always had a strong father-daughter relationship, and the transplant will make it even stronger.

Says DeLauren: “I call him my Superman. There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t give him so he can enjoy life and be right there beside me.”

And I’m sure that years from now, those two WILL be right beside each other… reminiscing about the days they spent before and after the transplant.
