When some baby opossums were found in Brazil, it was discovered that their mother had been attacked and killed. The young opossums were then turned over to pet behaviorist Stephanie Maldonado.
Stephanie tried to get them into a nearby wildlife rescue group, but that facility was filled to capacity. So, instead, she kept them in her home to raise.
She had to feed them about every two hours, and she was getting worried that her care was just not going to be enough for them.
Then, Stephanie’s dog, Pretinha (preh-tina), stepped in. Pretinha could apparently sense that the little critters needed some help. So she began taking care of them just like they were her own.
Says Stephanie: “It’s very nice to see all the care that she has with them, licking them all the time and nestling them.”
Pretinha even lets the little rascals climb onto her back and takes them for rides. And I’m sure you can tell by the photos that Pretinha had a good time being a mom to the little opossums.
