Let’s face it. Homeless people DO NOT have easy lives. But every now and then, someone comes along to make their lives a lot better.
In Newcastle, England, businessman James Minn was out on the town celebrating with his wife and a few friends his 15th wedding anniversary. As they we walking the streets, a street beggar approached James and his party and asked if they could kindly spare some change.
Well they gave him some money, and while doing so, James started asking the young man some questions. That young man was 25-year-old Ryan Davidson. He told James that he had been without a job for the past three years, and had to walk the streets begging for money just to get by.
After chatting for awhile, James offered Ryan something that no one else had over the past three years… a job.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Ryan.
It was a job in James’ powder coating factory. But Ryan missed his first day of work… not a good sign at all. James soon found out, though, that Ryan was contacted for an emergency housing appointment, and the young man had no time left on his phone to call James and let him know. The next day, however, Ryan showed up at his new job right on time.
Says James: “He is getting the break that he deserves. I’m not bothered by his past. I just want him to move forward.”
And Ryan is certainly counting his blessings.
Says the young man with a new job: “I feel so lucky. Just days ago I sat on the streets trying to make enough money to get something to eat and now I’ve got a job… It has been absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome.”
