In Arlington, when police officer Gary Carter responded to a call of an “aggressive” pit bull roaming a neighborhood, he didn’t really know what to expect. But he knew he was not going to take an aggressive approach with the animal. Instead, he did just the opposite, and calmly interacted with the dog.
While doing that, the officer realized the pit bull was not aggressive at all, and was even very friendly with him. But it was certainly lost and certainly thirsty, so officer Carter coaxed the dog into his patrol car with a candy bar and took him to the animal shelter.
He then posted a picture of the dog on the department’s Facebook page, hoping to find the owner. And it worked. The dog, named Jeffrey, and his owner were soon reunited.
